高齢者とクルマの付き合い方が社会的テーマとして取り上げられることが多い昨今ですが、日本ではクルマとシニアカーが同列に語られることはなくシニアカーはあくまでもご年配のための移動手段です。それゆえ自動車に比べ、モビリティスクーターには味気ない選択肢しかないように感じていました。今回のプロジェクトでは、単なる高齢者向けの乗り物ではなく、自動車免許を返上してでも乗りたくなるような「クルマ」をデザインするというテーマを掲げスタートしました。
UNIVERSAL FORM LANGUAGE

このプロジェクトのデザインテーマは「究極に優しい形＝球体」としました。球体からインスピレーションを受け、現代の自動車トレンドや未来的なデザイン思考を取り入れながら、スケッチを通じてボリュームを発展させていきました。乗員にも歩行者にも優しくありながらクールであるという、相反する2つの要素を共存させることに注力しデザインを展開していきました。

Mobility of senior citizens is a poignant topic. As physical fitness decreases with age, people may be required to give up their driver’s licenses, and with that part of their freedom and independence. Because of this, and compared to cars, mobility scooters are often driven because people need to, rather than want to. What if there was a mobility scooter that was desirable in its own right, regardless of age or physical ability?
SPHERE-INSPIRED

Protective of the driver and friendly to surrounding pedestrians: the sphere is the perfect starting point for the shape of this vehicle. From there, we created an attractive form language with a universal confidence and calm, appealing to people of all ages.
DESIGN DEVELOPMENT
